Stories from the top end of Australia that, while normal to the locals, constantly amuse/bemuse/shock/alarm/startle/terrify just about anyone else.

You stuck it where?

The headline says it all: "Why I stuck a cracker up my clacker"...

About Me

Giulio Saggin
I was born in Rome, Italy, in 1968 to Australian parents doing the 60s thing. We all moved back to Australia, and Brisbane, in 1974. Not knowing what to do when I graduated from high school in 1985, I spent the following year working several part-time jobs. It was during this year I began taking photos and gained entry to the Queensland College of Art, studying there in 1987-88. Deciding a career as a news photographer was more important than my studies, I concentrated on this and my final college-dictated folio was failed. I did, however, secure a cadetship at the Canberra Times newspaper in 1989. In 1990 I moved back to Brisbane and The SUN newspaper. I began freelancing in 1991 and, at six weeks notice, set off for Scotland with two mates in July 1992. Over the following five-and-a-half years, I had photos published in every major Scottish and London-based newspaper. At the start of 1998 I left Scotland and hitchhiked all the way around Australia photographing everyone who gave me a lift and writing about each hitch (link below). I live in Brisbane and continue to work in the media.

The story behind the photo
Every photo tells a story. However, every photo also has a story behind it. I've been a photographer for over 20 years and this is a collection of my photos and the stories behind how they came into being - http://giuliosphotos.blogspot.com/
